Joana Sousa Cardoso . Architects is an architecture studio founded in 2022 by Joana de Sousa Cardoso.
With a critical approach and a concern for the social, historical and artistic impact on the collective quality of life of those who inhabit the place, Joana Sousa Cardoso . Architects ensures a rigorous and unique design process, from the embryonic phase of the projects to their delivery.
Each exercise is closely monitored and personalised, combining reason and sensitivity, function and comfort, thus creating an integrated and distinctive solution that makes each project unique.
The definition of the concept is collective and carried out with the participation of the client, valuing technical, economic and environmentally conscious solutions to the constraints encountered.
Joana De Sousa Cardoso
Master in Architecture in 2009 from the Autonomous University of Lisbon.
Joana was born in Coimbra in February 1982. She began her architecture studies at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, completing her degree and master's degree at the Autonomous University of Lisbon in 2009 with a grade of 18.
During the defence of her master's degree, she was invited to join the team of architect Francisco Aires Mateus, where she began her professional career and collaborated with him between 2009 and 2013.
Also between 2009 and 2013, she took up the position of Municipal Advisor at Lisbon City Council.
In 2014 she collaborated with architect Frederico Valsassina and between 2016 and 2022 she worked with architect Samuel Torres de Carvalho as project coordinator.
In 2022 she developed an independent professional practice and founded the studio "Joana Sousa Cardoso . Arquitectos" in Lisbon.
