Fitness Dock BF

Fitness Dock BF

Lisboa

FitnessDock is a chain of gyms. FitnessDock spaces and environments are based on minimalist interventions, where the areas dedicated to physical activity are emphasised as the main element.

From a continuous height in the space, two contrasting heights are established.

Above this level, structures and infrastructures are assumed, asserting a stripped-down and "brutalist" character.

Below, at the height corresponding to the human scale and which is intended to be emphasised, a warmer and more attractive environment is established through the application of a pigmented bar that unifies the surfaces of the walls, pillars and doors, complemented by mirrors and motivational phrases that punctuate the spaces, challenging athletes to excel.

The FitnessDock BF space is a former warehouse, currently vacant. The intervention involves rehabilitating the building, preserving and restoring the structural system made up of wooden trusses and beams, while maintaining and enhancing the reading of the whole and its preponderance in the interior.

The programme: changing rooms and an open space for physical exercise.

The main entrance is through a corridor flanked by the changing room volumes, adjacent to the main façade, from which you access the large, open-plan main space, which strongly characterises the complex. The volumes, enclosed and detached from the structure, emphasise the intention of the two heights, an image that is repeated as a concept.
